Vung An 2 Thermal Power Station is a major power generation project in Vietnam with a total investment capital of up to 2.2 billion USD. The project is being implemented under the BOT form by Vung Ang II Thermal Power Limited Liability Co. (VAPCO) as the investor. The project has a scale of 2 turbines and a total capacity of 1330MW. The project will construct facilities such as the main plant, a wharf for unloading coal, ash, and slag disposal sites, and related auxiliary works.
The plant has an area of over 42 hectares and is located near Vung An 1 Thermal Power Station. The plant uses the most advanced technology, and the coal fuel is imported from Australia and Indonesia. When put into operation, the plant is expected to provide about 7.8 billion kWh to the national grid annually and contribute to the budget of about 30 billion VND/month.
