Operating Principle of Globe Valve
A globe valve operates based on the vertical movement of the valve disc relative to the seat, allowing precise control of the flow rate as required. This design enables the valve to both regulate flow effectively and provide a reliable, tight shut-off when complete flow isolation is required, making it well-suited for systems that demand stable and precise operation.
During operation, the opening and closing process occurs in the following states:
- Fully Closed: The operator rotates the handwheel, causing the stem to move downward and press the valve disc tightly against the seat. Thanks to the conical or spherical design, a high level of sealing integrity is achieved, completely preventing fluid flow.
- Fully Open: Rotating the handwheel in the opposite direction lifts the stem, pulling the disc away from the seat. The fluid flows upward through the opening and exits the valve.
- Throttling (Flow Regulation): The distance between the valve disc and the seat is proportional to the flow rate. The disc can be positioned at any intermediate opening to achieve the desired flow without causing rapid wear, unlike gate valves.
